What we collect, why we collect it, who else touches it, and how to get it deleted. We collect very little, and we sell none of it.

Who we are

Northlane Web Studio is the operating name of Harry Singh IT Services. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, and what you can ask us to do about it. It covers this website and the website build and maintenance service we run from it.

What we collect

What you type into the contact form: your business name, your city and your email address. The form has three fields and asks for nothing else.

What you send us so we can build the site: your services and your prices, the areas you cover, your hours, your phone number, your business address if you publish one, your logo, and any photos you want used. You choose what to send. Anything you give us for the site is going on a public website, which is the point of it, so please do not send us anything you would not want published.

Publicly available information about your business: your existing website if you have one, your current listings, and what your business already says about itself in public. This is information anyone can look up, and we use it so the mock is about your actual business rather than a guess.

Email correspondence: the messages you send us and the ones we send you, kept in our mailbox.

Server logs: our website host records the standard request data that every web server records, which is the IP address, the date and time, the page requested, the referring page and the browser user agent.

Payment records: the fact of a payment, its amount and its date. Card details are handled by our payment processor and we never see or store them.

Why we collect it

To build the free mock website and send it to you. The business name and the city are what the mock is built from, and the email address is where the link goes.

To build, publish and run the real site once you have paid for it, to write the monthly articles, and to make the changes you email us.

To bill you and to issue receipts, and to keep the financial records we are required to keep.

To keep this site working and secure, which is what the server logs are for.

We do not use your information to build profiles, and we do not use it for anything you did not ask us for.

What we do not do

We do not sell personal data. We do not rent it, trade it, or share it with third parties for their marketing. We do not add anyone to a mailing list they did not ask for. There is no advertising on this site, and no advertising network is given your data.

Who helps us run the service

We rely on a small number of ordinary service providers, and each one only handles what it needs to do its job.

An email provider, which carries and stores our correspondence with you.

A form-handling service, which passes contact form submissions to our email.

A website host, which serves this site and your site, and keeps the server logs.

A payment processor, which takes payment and holds the payment details. We never see or store card details ourselves.

Each of these processes data on our instructions, for the purposes set out above and for nothing else.

How long we keep it

Contact form submissions and email correspondence are kept while we are working with you and for a reasonable period afterward, so we can answer questions about work we have done.

The material you gave us for the site is kept while your site is live. After you cancel we keep it briefly in case you come back or ask for an export, and then it goes.

Records connected to payments are kept for as long as we are required to keep financial records.

Server logs are kept for a short period and then discarded.

You can ask us to delete what we hold about you at any time. Email harry@northlanewebstudio.com and we will delete it, apart from anything we are legally required to keep, and we will confirm when it is done.

Cookies

This site uses no advertising cookies and no tracking cookies. We do not run third party analytics that follow you across other websites.

How we contact business owners

We contact business owners about their own publicly listed businesses, using business contact details that are published for that purpose. We say who we are in the first line, we say why we are writing, and we send a free mock of their website rather than a pitch.

Anyone can ask to be removed from contact at any time. Reply to any message from us and say so, or email harry@northlanewebstudio.com. We will remove the address and we will not write again. You do not have to give a reason.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the date shown under the heading at the top of this page changes with it.
